Why Children?

What parent would wait and let their children develop the same spinal problems that they have? Not me. Children have spines just like adults and those spines are subject to pressures from hard bones pushing on soft nerves too! Did you know that the average child falls 5000 times before the age of 5. If a child can get their spines aligned at an early age, they run much less of a risk of developing scoliosis and arthritis. The nervous system controls all the body functions. If children have misalignments in their spine, it can cause the nervous system function to be altered. This can lead to a wide range of health problems.

Is it Safe?

Adjusting a child is way different than adjusting an adult. Most children don’t need much force to receive an adjustment. An adjustment to a child usually requires less pressure than it takes to flip a light switch. Did you know that chiropractors pay substantially less in malpractice insurance than most health care providers? There is a reason. The adjustment procedure is one of the safest means of treatment in the health care field.

When should I get my child checked by a chiropractor?

As soon as possible! We have checked infants 3 days after birth for spinal misalignments. It has been noted in the literature that if vacuum distraction, forceps, or any pulling must occur to help the birth process that pressure of 25 pounds being applied to the skull of the infant is fairly regular. Do you think that 25 pounds of pulling pressure to the skull of a 7 pound baby can cause some neck misalignments? You bet it can.

Will It Hurt Them?

No. Most children don’t even know that they are being adjusted when they get adjusted.

What Symptoms Will My Child Have with a Spinal Misalignment?

This is varied. But usually a short leg, head tilt, ear infections, colic, indigestion, trouble sleeping, bed wetting, runny nose, reoccurring colds and infections. These are to name a few. But why wait until your child has a symptom before you get them checked for a spinal misalignment?
